Luther traveled to Cedar Rapids to face Coe College this afternoon. The Kohawks entered the match with an A-R-C record of 7-0 and one win away from claiming the regular season title. Luther won two of three doubles matches and three singles matches to secure a 5-4 victory. The win keeps Luther unbeaten with a mark of 5-0 with three conference matches remaining on the schedule.
In doubles,
Max Loen and
Nyathi Motlojoa defeated Rami Hemaidan and Bo Wilson (8-7) at No. 1.
Joaquim Fernandes and
Nando Melo posted an (8-6) win at No. 3 over Nathan Meskell and Jordan Oaks.
Luke Westholder and
Ricky Portilla lost a hard fought (8-7) decision at No. 2.
The three victories in singles were produced by Westholder at No. 3, Fernandes at No. 4 and
Dylan Wiemers at No. 5. Westholder defeated Wilson (7-6,2-6, 6-3). Fernandes defeated Meskell (7-5, 7-6). Wiemers secured the match victory with the score tied 4-4. He defeated Oaks (2-6, 7-5, 6-4).
