Luther wrapped up its afternoon in the valley with a 5-4 victory over Carleton College. The Norse entered the match ranked No. 18 in the ITA Central Region, while the Knights entered the match at No. 11.
Doubles proved to be the difference in the match as both teams won three matches in singles. The Norse posted victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles and headed into singles action with a 2-1 advantage.
At No. 1., Luther's
Max Loen and
Nyathi Motlojoa, ranked No. 8 in the Central Region, defeated Tarm Rojanasoonthon and Tate Fuller (8-3).
Francisco Navarrete and
Luke Westholder posted an (8-4) victory over Yuv Kataria and Aniketh Vipparla at No. 2. The Knights William Walsh and Aswath Viswanathan defeated
Joaquim Fernandes and
Nando Melo at No. 3 (8-3).
The top three singles matches were all victories for the Norse. Motlojoa, ranked No. 12 in the Central Region, came back from behind to defeat Rojanasoonthon in three sets (4-6, 6-0, 10-7). Motlojoa is now 18-5 for the year.
Luke Westholder defeated Xander Roti in straight sets at No. 2 (6-3, 6-4).
With the score tied 4-4, Loen secured the victory for the Norse with a three-set victory over Kataria (2-6, 7-6(7-3), 10-7).
