For the second time in six days Luther and No. 6 Simpson faced each other, this afternoon in Indianola, Iowa.Thanks to a 10-point difference in the first quarter and 14-point difference in the third, Simpson defeated Luther 90-66.
Simpson finished the night shooting 48% that included a 58% effort in the first two quarters of the ball game. The Norse shot 50% in the first half but cooled off in the second half connecting on 24% of their attempts. The free throw line proved costly as well as the Storm made a season high 27 freethrows while shooting 80%.
Megan Miller and
Kailey Jones led Luther's attack. Miller finished with 14 points and Jones was credited with 10.
Lizzie Kauls,
Kristen Elliott and
Grace Prokosch all tallied nine.
The Storm had five players post double figures, led by Jenna Taylor and Regan Freland with 15 points each.
The loss dropped Luther into sixth place in the A-R-C standings with a record of 4-7, 7-13. Simpson has now won 16 games in a row and sits atop the league standings with a mark of 11-0, 19-1.
Luther has two home games next week. They will host Loras College (8-3, 14-6) on Wednesday night and Central College (2-7, 4-11) on Saturday afternoon.
