The women's basketball team took another step towards qualifying for the American Rivers Conference Six-Team Tournament, following a 79-65 come-from-behind victory over Central College this afternoon. Trailing 43-36 at halftime, the Norse outscored the Dutch 22-8 in the third quarter and never trailed the rest of the game.
Five Norse tallied double figures led by
Megan Miller who scored a career high 19 points. Miller knocked down three of Luther's eight treys.
Jordan Rubie had 15 and
Kristen Elliott finished with 10.
Lizzie Kauls and
Kailey Jones both recorded double-doubles. Kauls finished with 16 points 11 rebounds, while Jones was credited with 13 points and a single game school record 24 boards. The duo grabbed 35 of Luther's 61 rebounds for the afternoon.
The win keeps Luther in fifth place in the A-R-C standings. The Norse are now 5-8 in league play, 8-14 overall. Central fell to 3-9 in the A-R-C, 5-13 overall.
It's a busy week on the road next week. The Norse travel to Loras College on Monday night, Central on Thursday and finish the regular season at the University of Dubuque on Saturday.
