A poor shooting third quarter cost Luther this afternoon as the Norse were defeated by the Beavers of Buena Vista University 60-55 this afternoon at Siebens Fieldhouse in Storm Lake.

Leading at halftime 27-23, the Norse were outscored by the Beavers 18-9 in the third quarter. The Norse went ice cold connecting on 23% of their attempts and were never able to regain the lead after trailing 41-36 after three frames. The Norse finished the afternoon shooting 37% that included a 1-of-17 performance from behind the three-point line.

Megan Miller led a trio of double digit scorers with 14 points. Kristen Elliott finished with 11 and Jordan Rubie had 10. Kailey Jones led the team with 10 rebounds.

The Beavers were led by Vanessa Hamlett who finished with a double-double thanks to 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The loss gives Luther an A-R-C record of 4-4, 7-10. Buena Vista improved to 4-6 in league play, 6-10 overall.

Luther returns to action on Monday night when it will host league leaders and nationally ranked No. 6 Simpson College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
