Playing for the first time since January 1, the women's basketball team rolled to a 74-48 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University tonight in the Regents Center Gym. The Norse led for all but 1:21 and won the battle of the boards 46-27. The Norse shot 44% that included a 11-of-24 performance from behind the three-point line. On the defensive end, Luther held NWU to 32.7%.
Jordan Rubie led all scorers with 16 points doing most of her damage from behind the arch connecting on 4-of-5 attempts.
Kailey Jones and
Kristen Elliott were next with 11 points each and
Megan Miller was credited with 10.
Lizzie Kauls led all rebounders with nine, while Rubie and Elliott both dished out a game high 6 assists.
The win was the third in a row for the Norse who are now 3-1 in the A-R-C, 6-7 overall. NWU fell to 0-6 in league play, 2-12 overall.
Tonight's game was a rescheduled game from Dec. 4. On Tuesday, Jan. 11 the league announced that the athletic directors, faculty athletic representatives and health and care administrators will
attempt to reschedule all conference contests that had been previously canceled and any future postponements due to the impact of COVID-19 on any team in the league. Games that can not be rescheduled will be considered "no contests".
These two teams will face each other this Saturday in Lincolns with a start time of 2:00 p.m.
Up next for the Norse is a home game against the University of Dubuque this Wednesday, Jan. 19. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
