Luther College hosted the two-day American Rivers Conference Men's Individual Tournament Friday and Saturday, Sept. 24-25. The two days of competition had 100 players competing in A, B, and C singles and A and B doubles. Due to rain towards the end of day one, the scoring format was adjusted to 8-game pro set for the remainder of the tournament. The tournament was played at two sites, the Luther tennis courts and the Decorah City Tennis Courts.
Despite the scoring adjustment the tournament was concluded with Luther's
Nyathi Motlojoa dropping an (8-4) decision to Coe's Rami Hemaiden in the title match of A Singles, under the lights at the Decorah City Tennis Courts well into the evening on Saturday. Hemaiden advanced to the championship match defeating Max Leon (8-7 (11-9). Leon was awarded third place by default over Coe's Jon Lansing who Motlojoa defeated (8-1) in the semifinals.
Motlojoa and Hemaiden faced each other earlier in the afternoon in the A Doubles championship match. Motlojoa played with
Luke Westholder and Hemaiden played with Bo Wilson. The Luther duo posted an (8-6) victory to claim gold.
In B Singles,
Francisco Navarrete claimed gold defeating teammate
Nate Withers (8-5).
In C Singles,
Nico Martinez Biali defeated Kareen Kassas of Loras College (8-7 (7-3) in the championship match.
Connor Fuzzey defeated
