Luther secured a sweep of the three-game series with Loras posting a 3-1 victory on Senior Day. The victory gave the Norse a final American Rivers Conference record of 14-10, 25-13 overall.
The Norse tallied 10 hits and scored a run in the second, fourth and sixth innings. The Duhawks lone run came in the top of the sixth.
Senior pitcher
Courtney Cooper, who had not pitched the entire year due to battling injuries, got the start in the circle. Cooper pitched one inning and retired the side in order that included a strikeout of the first and third batters. In the middle was a ground out to third base.
Sister
Kendra Cooper took over for Courtney in the top of the second and struck out six en route to the victory. Cooper is now 14-5 with an ERA of 2.19.
Seniors
Elsa Skeie and Hanah Halverson also had good afternoons. Skeie was the only Norse to produce multiple hits. She had a lead-off single in the second and a double to right field in the fourth. Halverson led off the third with a single and was credited with an out an assist at short stop.
Morgan Hogenson,
Belle Berg and
Anna Forari all drove in a run. Hogenson drove in Skeie in the second and Berg drove in Skeie in the fourth. Forari drove in pinch runner
Katie Brennan in the sixth who replaced
Emily Versnik who led-off the inning with a single up the middle.
Up next, is the A-R-C Two Pod Tournament that will take place May 13-15. Luther is the No. 4 seed and will play in Pod 1 in Cedar Rapids at Coe College. The Kohawks won the regular season championship and earned the No. 1 seed. Luther begins play Thursday the 13th at 10:00 a.m. and will face No. 5 Simpson College.
