No. 3 Loras defeated No. 2 Luther 9-6 in today's final game at Wartburg College. The Duhawks jumped on the Norse early scoring four runs in the first inning and led 7-1 before the Norse pulled to within one after a five-run fifth. The Duhawks added the final two runs of the game in the top of the sixth.
In the fifth, three of Luther's five runs were unearned.
Peyton Lindmark led-off with a walk and
Noah Sebben followed with a two-run blast over the left-center field fence.
Cullen Stamp reach base on a infield hit and
Luke Plunkett walked.
Kelby Johnson reached on an error by the left fielder and Stamp scored on the play.
Kyle Schnobrich and
Joe McKibben drove in the final two runs of the frame with a single and sacrifice fly respectively. McKibben was the only Norse to produce a multiple hit game as the Duhawk pitching staff allowed just seven hits.
The loss gives both teams one loss in this double elimination tournament. They will square off at Noon tomorrow with the winner advancing to Sunday's championship game at Mount Mercy University against No. 1 Coe College. That game is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
