The Luther college baseball team extended its winning streak to six games following a 6-5 come-from-behind victory over Simpson in game one of this four-game weekend series.
Simpson took a 4-0 lead after three innings and the score remained that way until the bottom of the sixth. The combination of an rbi double from
Noah Sebben, a Storm error, a bases loaded walk to
Peyton Lindmark and an rbi fielder's choice off the bat of
Charlie Rubendall tied the game. With two outs,
Owen Vander Linden singled to right field that scored Lindmark to give the Norse their first lead of the contest 5-4.
Simpson tied the game in the 7th with a lead-off solo home run by Josh Breitbarth, but Luther rallied for the win in the bottom half of the inning.
Joe McKibben led-off the frame drawing a base on balls. He was sacrificed to second by Sebben and scored on a pinch-hit walk-off rbi double by
Cullen Stamp.
Nate Loch kept the Storm scoreless in three innings of relief, giving up two hits, walking no one and striking out two. He retired the final nine batters he faced.
Colin Chalmers picked up his third win of the season in relief striking out two Storm batters.
The win gives Luther an A-R-C record of 18-3, 22-7 overall. Simpson fell to 7-14, 10-17
