No. 4 Luther defeated No. 5 Simpson in today's first game of Pod 1 of the American Rivers Conference Tournament. The Norse tallied 11 hits and scored four runs in the third and one in the sixth to secure the victory.

Sydney Shultz led the attack with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate that included a three-run home run in the third. Emily Versnik who was 2-for-2, drove two runs, one in the third and the other on a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Kendra Cooper went the distance in the circle allowing three runs on six hits, she walked two and struck out four. Cooper is now 15-5 for the year.

Luther will now face the winner of game number two between No. 8 Buena Vista University vs. No. 1 Coe College. That game will begin at 4:00 p.m.
