Game three of the four-game series between Luther and Nebraska Wesleyan University was a slugfest. The two teams combined for 26 hits and 23 runs in a seven inning game that took three hours and 20 minutes to complete. When the dust settled, NWU won 12-11. The Norse had 15 hits and the Prairie Wolves had 11. The Prairie Wolves used six different pitchers and Norse used three.
Entering the bottom of the sixth and trailing 9-6, Luther tied the game with three runs on two hits. NWU answered with three runs in the top of the seventh. In this frame, second baseman Kaleb Knox, who finished 4-for-4 with 5 rbi and batted for the cylce, hit a two-run triple. He led-off with a single in the first, walked in the third, hit a three-run home run in the fourth, and hit a double in the sixth.
In the bottom of the seventh
Kelby Johnson and
Owen Vander Linden both drove in a run. Vander Linden finished the game with two rbi, as did
Kyle Schnobrich,
Charlie Rubendall, andÂ
Joe McKibben.
Luke Plunkett and McKibben led the team with three hits each.
The loss gives Luther an A-R-C record of 12-3, 16-7 overall. NWU improved to 6-13 in league play, 8-17 overall.
