Luther secured a sweep of the University of Dubuque winning game four of this series 5-4. The victory gives Luther an overall record of 8-4, 4-0 in the American Rivers Conference. Dubuque fell to 3-10 overall, 3-5 in league play.
With the game tied 4-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Norse manufactured the game winner.
Peyton Lindmark started the frame with a single up the middle.
Kelby Johnson laid down a sacrifice bunt to the pitcher that advanced Lindmark to second.
Luke Plunkett, who was having a monster day, was intentionally walked.
Owen Vander Linden struck out, which was followed by
Kyle Schnobrich hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Joe McKibben stepped in the batters box and watch four consecutive outside pitches for a game-winning walk that scored Lindmark.
Luther was leading 4-3 as Dubuque entered into the top of the sixth. Lead-off hitter Hinter Martindale hit a home run that tied the score 4-4, setting up the seventh inning.
Charlie Rubendall moved from shortstop to the mound in the seventh and allowed one hit and struck out one en route to the victory.
Nate Loch started the game and allowed three runs on five hits, walked one and struckout one.
Calvin Brinda worked 1 2/3 innings and allowed one run on one hit.
Plunkett, Johnson, Vander Linden and Rubendall all had two hits. The Norse finished the game with a combined 10 hits. Plunkett had two RBI, while Lindmark, Johnson, Vander Linden and McKibben were all credited with one RBI.
The victory gives Luther an overall record of 8-4, 4-0 in the A-R-C. Dubuque is now 3-10, 3-4 in conference action.
Luther returns to action April 2-3 when it will travel to Central College (2-4, 4-6) for a four-game series. Both days action is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
