Luther defeated Dubuque 5-1 in today's nightcap. This was the second of four games between these two teams scheduled this weekend. The Norse did all of their damage in the second and third frames, scoring twice in the second and three times in the third.
Cullen Stamp and
Charlie Rubendall drove in a run each in the second. Rebendall also drove in a run in the third, while
Joe McKibben and
Joshua Matanich were credited with the other two RBI in this frame.
Kyle Schnobrich led the Norse attack that produced 12 hits, going 3-for-4 and scoring twice. Stamp and Matanich also had a multiple hit games. Stamp was 2-for-4 and Matanich finished 2-for-3.
John Culucci III picked up his second win of the season. Culucci threwsix complete innings, allowed one run on 10 hits, walked one and struck out four.
Ross Hingst,
Nate Loch and
Calvin Brinda each threw a scoreless inning to secure the victory.
The win gives Luther an American Rivers Conference record ot 2-0, 6-4 overall. Dubuque fell to 3-3 in league play, 3-8 overall.
These two teams will wrap up this four-game series on Sunday, March 28 with a double header that will begin at 1:00 p.m. here in the valley.
