St. Mary's University secured the three-game series sweep of Luther this afternoon in Winona, Minn. Trailing the Norse 1-0 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Cardinals produced six runs on six hits en route to a 6-1 victory.
The Norse tallied 12 hits but managed its lone run in the top of the second.
Joe McKibben started the frame with a lead-off single. Two batters later Payton Lindmark single to left field that scored McKibben.
Luke Plunkett had three hits, while
Owen Vander Linden and Lindmark both had two.
Tyler Boesel pitched five scoreless innings allowing four hits, he walked three and struck out five.
Nate Loch was credited with the loss.
The loss was the fourth in a row for the Norse who are now 2-4. St. Mary's improved to 5-1.
Luther returns to action tomorrow at home. The Norse will host the Pipers of Hamline University (MN). This non-conference double header will begin at 1:00 p.m.
