Luther wrapped up its two-game road trip to Texas with a 73-58 victory over Austin College at Hughey Gym in Sherman, Texas. The victory was the second in a row for the Norse who are now 3-9 overall.
With the score tied 14-14 with a little over 11 minutes remaining in the first half, the Norse outscored the 'Roos 21-11, en route to a 35-25 lead at halftime. The Norse never trailed the rest of the game.
Statistically, the Norse shot 45.8% that included a 9-of-27 effort from behind the three-point line. They also connected on 10 of the 13 free throw attempts they had and won the battle of the boards 38-32.
Andrew Lazinbat led the Norse attack with 15 points. Lazinbat missed just two shots from the field and was 2-for-3 from the charity stripe. Ben Bill also tallied double digits with 14.
Aidan Bailey and
Mat Rohden were next with nine points each.
Mitchell Schmieder collected a team high seven rebounds.
This was the final non-conference game of the year. Luther will return to American Rivers Conference play on Wednesday, Jan. 5 when it will travel to Loras College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
