The men's basketball team returned to action for the first time in 12 days and rolled to a 77-56 road victory over the University of Dallas. The victory snapped a seven-game losing streak. The Norse posted their highest point total of the year and defensively also held an opponent to its lowest point total of the season. The Norse shot 47.5% while holding the Crusaders to 34%. Luther also won the battled of the boards 34-31.
The Norse never trailed and jumped out to an 18-point lead nine minutes into the first half, en route to a 45-33 advantage at halftime. The Norse did the majority of their damage from distance, making 14 treys this afternoon. If anyone was wondering, the single game school record for three-point baskets is 20 set in 2019 against the University of Dubuque.
Daniel Webster and
Aidan Bailey led the Norse attack with 13 points each.
Ben Gill also reached double digits with 11, while both
Matthew Franzen and
Evan Turner each chipped in nine. Gill,
Mat Rohden and
Andrew Lazinbat led the team with five rebounds each and
Jordan Pennix was credited with a game high five assists.
The win gives Luther an overall record of 2-9. Dallas fell to 3-8.
Luther returns to action tomorrow when it will face Austin College (3-5) at 3:00 p.m.
