The men's basketball team was never able to recover from a poor shooting first half and were defeated by Buena Vista University 64-46. This was the final American Rivers Conference game before the Christmas break.
The Norse shot 26% in the first half and trailed the Beavers 37-18 at halftime. In the second frame, the Norse connected on 42% of their attempts and outscored the Beavers 28-27. The Norse also stepped up their defensive efforts holding BVU to 26% in the second half.Â
Matthew Franzen and
Andrew Lazinbat led the Norse offensive attack with 11 and 10 points respectively.
Ben Gill was next with eight points.
The trio of Zane Neubaum, Michael Demers and Jake Thompson did the majority of the offensive damage for the Beavers. They combined for 67% of the teams final total with Neubaum scoring 16, Demers 14 and Thompson 13.
The loss gives Luther an A-R-C record of 0-4, 1-8 overall. BVU leveled its conference mark to 2-2, 4-7 overall.
Luther has one more game before Christmas, that will be at home against Cornell College on Friday, Dec. 17. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
