Luther began a two-game weekend road series at Cornell College this afternoon. This was the second time in 13 days these two teams faced each other. The Rams came from behind and posted a 62-55 victory.
Trailing by as many as 10 points in the first two frames, Luther took its second and final lead of the game with 6:17 left in the third quarter (37-35) thanks to a
Amelia Solum trey. The Norse extended their lead to five (41-36) with a little over four minutes remaining. The Rams outscored the the Norse 10-0 and led 46-41 at the end of the third and never trailed the rest of the game.
Luther turnovers were costly as the Norse turned the ball over 24 times that led to 27 points for the Rams.
Kailey Jones had her best night in a Norse uniform producing a double-double. Jones was 9-of-16 from the field en route to 19 points and collected 10 rebounds.
Lizzie Kauls led all rebounders with 13.
Cornell's Kali March led all scorers with 21 points. Madison Wauters also posted a double-double thanks to 12 points and 11 boards.
The loss gives Luther an overall record of 2-5. Cornell improved to 3-2.
Tomorrow, Luther travels to Winona, Minn., for a non-conference game against St. Mary's University. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
