Luther and Coe College squared off tonight in the Regents Center Gym for the American Rivers Conference opener for both teams. The Norse jumped out to a 35-25 halftime lead en route to a 64-62 victory. The win snapped a four-game losing streak.
Kristen Elliott led a trio of double digit scorers for the Norse. Elliott had a game high 20 points connecting on 7-of-13 from the field that included a 4-of-5 performance from behind the three-point line.
Megan Miller and
Kailey Jones were both credited with 11 points. Jones led the team with a game high seven rebounds and Elliott grabbed six.
The Kohawks had four players tally dougle digits. Alyse Southard and Ellie Wisner both had 13, Molly Buck had 12 and Katie Wilhelmi had 10.
This game came down to the free throw line where Luther was 13-of-18 and Coe was 9-of-19. Both teams made 22 field goals and the Kohawks had two more treys than the Norse.
The win gives Luther an overall record of 2-4. Coe fell to 3-3.
This weekend Luther had two games schedule with non-conference opponents on the road. On Saturday, Nov. 27 Luther will be at Cornell College for a 1:00 start. The next day they will travel to Winona, Minn., and St. Mary's University for a game that is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m.
