A late four quarter run by Cornell College secured a 57-53 come-from behind victory over Luther this afternoon in the Regents Center Gym. The Norse held a six-point lead (51-45) with a little under five minutes remaining the game. Cornell put together a 12-2 run down the stretch to secure the victory. It was a well payed game by both teams as the Norse turned the ball over seven times and the Rams 11. Cornell won the battle of the boards 45-35 and second chance points 14-6.
Luther was led by
Kristen Elliott who 4-for-8 from the field and 3-for-3 at the charity stripe for 12 points.
Megan Miller and
Lizzie Kauls were next with seven. Kauls also led the team with nine rebounds.
Cornell was led by the trio of Rachael Adewusi, Ani'ja Simmons and Madison Wauters. Adewusi scored a game high 14 points. Simmons and Wauters both had 10. Wauters posted a double-double thanks to a game high 11 rebounds.
The loss gives Luther an overall record of 1-2. Cornell evened its record to 1-1.
Luther will make its first road trip of the year this Wednesday, Nov. 17 when it will face Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. at 7:00 p.m.
