The Carleton College Knights held off a fourth quarter run by the Norse this evening to secure a 62-52 victory.
Luther was trailing by seven (48-41) early in the fourth frame, when four different players knocked down three-point baskets that pulled the Norse to within two (54-52), with a little under four minutes left in the game. The Knights answered with a fast break lay-up and four free throws down the stretch to secure the non-conference victory. The Knights did the majority of their damage from the charity stripe connecting on 24-of-32 attempts.
Luther was led by
Kailey Jones who tallied 12 points in 22 minutes of play off the bench.
Jordan Rubie was nex with 11, while
Amelia Solum and
Lizzie Berkvam both had six.
Lizzie Kauls pulled down a game high 10 rebounds.
Carleton was led by the trio of Aiana Whitfield and Jasmine Choi who both scored 14 points. Emma Henry also reached double digits with 11.
Following tonight's game both teams have an overall record of 1-1.
Luther returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 14 when it will host Cornell College at 2:00 p.m.
