Mark Franzen

The 2025-26 season will be Mark's 19th year as head coach. He was named Conference Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2013. He is also the Assistant Athletic Director for Resource Development.

During his tenure, he has led the Norse to conference championships in 2011 and 2013. In 2011 the Norse won the six-team conference tournament title earning a trip to the NCAA III National Tournament. It marked the first time Luther had been to the national tournament since 1984.

He has coached 11 all-conference performers, two conference MVP's, Dane Larson (2011) and Tyler Wedemeir (2013), three Defensive Players of the Year, Jacy Dillahunty (2011), Tyler Wedemeier (2013) and John Androus (2013), and two all-district honorees.

Prior to taking over the Norse program, he spent two years as head coach at Nebraska Wesleyan University. He was also an assistant coach at Wartburg College from 1998-2004 and Coe College from 1996-98. While at Wartburg, the Knights posted four 20-win seasons, captured the 2001 Iowa Conference regular season championship and tournament title, advancing to the NCAA III National Tournament.

A 1994 graduate of Wartburg College, he was a member of the Knights 1992-93 conference championship team that qualified for the NCAA III National Tournament.Â
