WINONA, Minn. — The Luther volleyball team lost their last two games of Sugar Loaf Classic hosted by St. Mary's (MN).
Game 1:
The Norse lost in a tough 5 set match to Crown College 3-2 (21-25, 29-27, 25-21, 8-25, 10-15). After dropping the first set, Luther came back to win the second and third sets and just fell short of closing out the match.
Lindsay Hanson led the Norse with 15 kills and sits alongside Victoria Gomez each having 2 aces. The defense was led by Ruby Gerhard and Abi Houston, Gerhard earning 3 blocks and Houston with 21 digs. Our setter, Iris Elias, led the offense recording 39 assists
Game 2:
Luther Volleyball finished out the day falling to UW-Superior 3-1 (25-14, 25-17, 25-27, 25-18). The Yellow jackets took the match with their work behind the service line, recording 12 aces to Luther's 6.
The Norse went to work at the net with Ruby Gerhard leading with 14 kills and Kylie Zeigler following with 13. Freshman, Avery Amsden, recorded 6 blocks in the match. Isis Elias has 31 assists in this match setting up the offense along with Abi Houston going to work on defense having 18 digs.
Luther will play next up at Central College on Tuesday, Sept. 8th at 6 p.m. in Pella, Iowa.
