MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Luther women's soccer team fell to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 2-0 in the 2026 season opener. The Blugolds scored once in each half in the 30th and 48th minute.
UW-Eau Claire scored in the 30th minute when Bella Felegy headed it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead which they would take into halftime.
Just three minutes into the second half, the Blugolds doubled their lead with a goal from Mikalyn Hidde. UW-Eau Claire recorded 11 shots with seven on frame.
Rylie Bucklin had five saves in the contest and
Suzett Hinds Cruz led the team with three shots.
Six players appeared in their first collegiate game including
Jenna Jansky,
Gloria Darling-Vross,
Sarah Pollei,
Samantha McCorkle,
Cate Reineck and
Adrienne Lewis.
The Norse remain on their road trip in Moorehead, Minn. facing Concordia College (MN) on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m..
