MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Luther women's soccer team defeated Concordia College (MN) 2-0 with goals scored by
Anya Kennedy in the 40th minute and
Riley Anderson in the 55th minute.
With five minutes remaining in the first half, Kennedy was able to get to the ball first off the goal kick. She took a shot from the top of the box that hit off a defender and bounced into the back of the net. The Norse took a lead 1-0 headed into halftime. The goal marked Kennedy's first career goal.
Luther doubled their lead in the 55th minute.
Ava Stemler took the corner kick sending it into the box where
Riley Anderson knocked it into the back of the net. Stemler was credited with an assist.
Reese McCabe got her first career start in goal and made two saves. She earned the combined shutout with
Alannah McKibben.
The Norse led the Cobbers in shots (14-9) and shots on goal (8-2).
Luther returns home to host St. Olaf on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m.
