DECORAH, Iowa – The Luther men's tennis team ranked No. 44 by the ITA won the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Tournament this afternoon for 12
th tournament title in program history. Luther defeated No. 53 Coe College by a final of 4-2. This will be the final IIAC/A-R-C Tournament title for the Norse as Luther will become a member of the Midwest Conference on July 1 of this year.
Luther and Coe have meet in the championship final 20 times since the tournament began in 2005. The Norse have won the last seven in a row dating to the 2018-19 season.
The Norse won the doubles point by winning two of the three matches.
Joao Benvenutti and
Abhay Chhabra won at No. 1 (6-3) and
Geoffrey Stoughton and
Juan Hernandez Herrera at No. 3 (6-2).
In singles, with the score 3-2 in favor of the Norse,
Rhys Biro-Moore clinched the match at No. 5 (6-3, 6-3). Other match winners were
Gerardo Ramirez Mainou at No. 4 (6-2, 6-1) and Chhabra at No. 3 (6-3, 6-4).
