DECORAH, IOWA – The Luther College Softball team split the doubleheader against Coe College winning the first game 1-0 before falling 2-0 in the second game. The Norse are now 12-8 overall and 3-1 in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C).
Game 1: Luther 1, Coe 0
The Norse scored the game winning run in the bottom of the sixth.
Madi Elwood led off the inning with a single into right field.
Libby Bygd came into pinch run.
Avery Nehring pushed Bygd to second and
Evie Strigel advanced her to third. Bygd was able to score on the wild pitch for a 1-0 victory.
Alexa Stevermer pitched a complete game allowing just four hits while shirking out four batters. She improves to 6-3 overall.
Game 2: Luther 0, Coe 2
Coe scored a lone run in the fifth and seventh to defeat Luther 2-0 in game two of the doubleheader. The Kohawks scored two runs on eight hits.
Rose Weber was 2-for-3 at the plate.
Mya Larsen and
Alison Martinez also recorded one hit.
Coe is now 16-10 overall and 1-3 in the American Rivers Conference.
Luther travels to no. 13 Simpson College on Saturday, April 11. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Indianola, Iowa.
