INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Luther softball team was defeated by no. 13 nationally ranked Simpson 5-4 and 5-1 in a doubleheader on Saturday. With the loss, the Norse drop to 12-10 overall and 3-3 in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C).
Game 1: Luther 4, Simpson 5
Through five complete innings, the Storm had a 5-0 lead. In the top of the sixth two runs were scored on one hit and
Evie Strigel was credited with an rbi. An inning later with two outs,
Madi Elwood hit a two rbi single into centerfield but the rally was cut short as she out at second.
Raven Allen was 2-for-3 at the plate.
Game 2: Luther 1, Simpson 5
Simpson scored two runs in the second and three in the fourth. The only run for Luther came in the top of the sixth off a solo homerun from Allen. It was her first homerun since the season opener against Carleton College on Feb. 28.
