The Lurther College women's tennis team, ranked No. 72 by the ITA in the NCAA III, secured its 19th appearance in the National Championships this afternoon in the Valley. The Norse hosted No. 61 Coe College in the title match of the A-R-C Tournament and defeated the Kohawks 4-3. The two teams entered the match winners of 11 A-R-C Tournament titles each, and Luther won its 12th and last, as the Norse will become members of the Midwest Conference on July 1 of this year.
Luther secured the all important point in doubles winning two of the three matches.
Lena Lichau and
Abby Struble won at No. 2 (7-5), and
Abby Ostermann and
Liselot van Den Broek won at No. 3 (6-1).
In singles, the match was tied 3-3 with
Ale Villanueva and Coe's Ale Hagness in a three set tie breaker. Villanueva won the match (7-6, 1-6, 6-2) to secure the team victory.
