The Luther College women's tennis team advanced to the American Rivers Conference Tournament championship match after defeating Central College 4-0 this afternoon here in Decorah.
The Norse picked up one point after winning two of the three doubles matches.
Allie Christensen and
Avery Schifsky-Seguin defeated Lauren Gano and Emma Murphy at No. 1 (6-1).
Lena Lichau and
Abby Struble defeated Jenna Mitsuko Mahoney and Claire Smock (6-4) at No. 2. The No. 3 match between
Abby Ostermann and
Liselot van Den Broek versus Emily Blom and Sidney Petersen was halted with the score tied (5-5).
In singles, the Norse needed three wins to secure the 4-0 victory. Christensen defeated Murphy (6-1, 6-0) at No. 3. Lichau followed with a (6-3, 6-1) win over Gano at No. 2. Ostermann posted the fourth point of the match thanks to a (6-0, 6-1) win at No. 1 over Mahoney.

The Norse, currently ranked No. 72 by the ITA in the NCAA III, will face No. 61 Coe College in the championship match at home on Saturday, April 25. Coe defeated Wartburg 4-0 in the other semifinal match in Cedar Rapids this afternoon.
The Norse and Kohawks are the only teams in the league to capture a tournament title with both entering Saturday's match with 11. The Norse defeated Coe 4-3 on Sept. 6 and went on to capture the league title with a record of 8-0. Saturday's champion will earn the league's automatic berth to the 2026 NCAA III National Championships. Start time for the title tilt will be 1 p.m.
