The Luther College men's tennis team, nationally ranked at No. 42, improved to 14-2 following 7-0 victories over both Simpson College and UW-Stevens Point this afternoon. The two wins gives the Norse a win streak of seven in a row heading into a non-conference match against No. 53 Carleton College tomorrow in Owatonna, Minn. Start time for this match is 2 p.m.
The win over the Storm took a little over an hour and gives the Norse a record of 4-0 in the American Rivers Conference. Luther dropped just one game in doubles and 10 in singles. The Norse have never lost to Simpson, a string of 38 wins dating back to March 18, 1978.Â

During the nightcap match against UW-Stevens Point, the Norse swept doubles play and won all six singles matches in straight sets. This was the first time these two teams had met on the tennis court.Â
Ranked No. 10 in the Central Region in doubles,
Joao Benvenutti and
Abhay Chhabra improved to 18-3 for the year, defeating Ayden Knuth and August Nelson (6-1) at No. 1.
Rhys Biro-Moore and
Jake Nelson won (6-3) at No. 2, and
Juan Hernandez Herrera and
Geoffrey Stoughton won at No. 3 (6-2).Â
In singles, Benvenutti improved to 14-5 overall that includes a mark of 10-4 while playing at No. 1. His win streak in now three in a row. Herrera won at No. 2 and is now 13-5 overall. Chhabra improved to 14-4 following his victory at No. 3.
Gerardo Ramirez Mainou played at No. 4 and improved to 17-4. Both Chhabra and Mainou have a win streak of five. Biro Moore played at No. 5 and is now 13-4 and has a team best win streak of nine in a row. Nelson played No. 6 and is now 10-3 and also has a win streak of three in a row.Â
