Men's Tennis Improves to 3-1 After 7-0 Victory over Wheaton College

The men's tennis team improved to 3-1 following a 7-0 victory over Wheaton College (IL) this afternoon in Lake Geneva, Wis. This was the final match for the Norse at the Warhawk Invitational hosted by UW-Whitewater. The Norse lost just five games en route to sweeping doubles and four of the six singles matches were decided in straight sets. 

In doubles, the duo of Joao Benvenutti and Abhay Chhabra at No. 1 won (6-1). Gregor Gottein and Geoffrey Stoughton at No. 2 and Rhys Biro-Moore and Jake Althaus at No. 3, both won (6-2).

Juan Hernandez Herrera at No. 2 and Chhabra at No. 3, secured the shutout win with three-set tie breaker decisions. Herrera won (6-1, 2-6, 10-7), while Chhabra won (6-2, 0-6, 10-8).

One week from today, Saturday, Feb. 14, Luther will begin its home schedule in the Robert and Ann Naslund Sports and Recreation Center, with matches against Loras College and UW-La Crosse. The Loras match will be the American Rivers Conference opener and will begin at 10 a.m. The match against UW-La Crosse will begin at 6 p.m.
