The men's tennis team hosted St. Olaf College this afternoon in the Bob and Ann Naslund Sports and Recreation Center. The Norse defeated the Oles 7-0 and improved to 7-1. The victory was also their sixth in the row.
Luther jumped out to a 1-0 lead after sweeping doubles.
Joao Benvenutti and
Abhay Chhabra improved to 13-1 for the year after posting a (6-1) win at No. 1
Rhys Biro-Moore and
Juan Hernandez Herrera won at No. 2 (6-2), and
Jake Nelson and
Geoffrey Stoughton won at No. 3 (6-3).
All six singles matches were won in straight sets. Benvenutti won at No. 1 (7-5, 6-3), Herrera won at No. 2 (6-2, 6-4), Chhabra won at No. 3 (7-6 (7-5), 6-0),
Gerardo Ramirez Mainou won at No. 4 (6-0, 6-1), Biro-Moore won at No. 5 (6-4, 6-1), and
Gregor Gottein won at No. 6 (7-6 (7-2), 6-2).
With his win today, Mainou leads the team in singles play with a record of 11-3. Benvenutti is next at 9-3 and Herrera completes the top-three with a mark of 8-3.

Luther will return to action on Saturday, March 7 when they will face Macalester College in Rochester, Minn.
