DECORAH, Iowa - The Luther women's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 66-51 win over Simpson to begin the new year. The game featured four lead changes and three times the score was tied. The Norse handed the Storm their first conference loss this season. Luther improves to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C).
Luther edged Simpson in the following statistical categories shooting percentage (38.5% to 35.6%), rebounds (43-39), points in the paint (32-30), second chance points (17-8), points off turnovers (16-12) blocks (5-0), and steals (10-7).
Natalie Beaver led the team with 27 points and 13 rebounds for her second straight game with a double-double. Following her was
Haylie Strum and
Lexi Thomas both with 10 points.
Leading all scorers for Simpson was Ella Anderson with a dobule-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Storm drop to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in the A-R-C.
The next contest for Luther will be on the road at Coe on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 5:30 p.m. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
