STORM LAKE, Iowa – The Luther women's basketball team was defeated by Buena Visa 73-61. Both teams started off shooting over 50 percent from the floor in the first quarter. There were six lead changes in the opening frame but at halftime the Norse trailed by two (28-31). The Beavers outscored the Norse in the second half 44-33.
The Beavers shot 36.2 percent from the floor and 26.3 percent from the arc. Luther had a 33.8 field goal percentage.
Natalie Beaver recorded her sixth game with 20-plus points and one shy of her season high with 26 in the game. She was also one rebound shy of a double-double.
Haylie Strum tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. She also had a team high seven assists.
Buena Vista snaps a six-game losing streak to the Norse. The Beavers move to 9-8 overall and 3-4 in the American Rivers Conference. They had four players reach double digits including Mary Walker, Bradi Krager, Tyme Boettcher, and Adeeya Yanga.
Luther drops to 8-8 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
The next game is at home on Wednesday, Jan. 17 against the University of Dubuque at 5:30 p.m.
