DECORAH, Iowa - The Luther women's basketball team outscored Loras 6-2 in overtime to claim at 62-58 victory in an American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) midweek match-up. Luther is 8-7 overall and 4-2 in conference action. This was the first overtime win for the Norse this season.
The Norse lead 33-19 at halftime. Out of the break Loras closed the gap and with 56 seconds remaining pulling ahead 56-54. A pair of critical free throws from
Abigail Panka tied the game at 56. While Loras had the last second shot a block from
Haylie Strum sent the game to overtime. The Duhawks outscored the Norse 37-23 which included a 21 point third quarter.
While Loras did get the first bucket of the overtime period, a pair of buckets from Strum and free throw from
Natalie Beaver won the game.
Panka and Beaver both recorded dobule-doubles and 16 points in the contest. Panka had 12 rebounds and Beaver had 10. Strum also reached double-figures with 13 points.
Claire Wagner led the Duhawks with 17 points. Loras drops to 5-11 overall and 1-6 in the A-R-C.
