DECORAH, Iowa — Luther (5-14, 0-2 A-R-C) fell to Coe (10-4, 1-1 A-R-C) in four sets at the Decorah High School (20-25, 27-25, 19-25, 20-25). The Norse took a set from the Kohawks for the first time since Oct. 30, 2019.
Down by one set, Luther took the second set by a score of 27-25. Early on, Coe maintained a slight edge, capitalizing on strong plays by Maddie Harris, who recorded multiple kills.
Annika Franzen kept the Norse within reach with her kill to tie the set at 18-18. A late service ace from
Jenna Langen gave Luther a 19-18 lead, and despite the Kohwaks efforts to push back, a final block by Gerhard and Franzen secured the set for the Norse. Luther hit .308 in the set.
As a team Coe hit .265 in the match.
Lindsay Hanson led the team with 11 kills followed by Franzen and
Ruby Gerhard with eight kills each.
Azaria McDonough recorded 24 assists and 10 digs for a double-double. Also tallying a double-double was Hanson who also had 10 digs.
Victoria Gomez had 20 digs.
Luther hosts the University of Dubuque on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. at Decorah High School.
