ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Augustana (IL) (7-7, 0-2 CCIW) defeated Luther (4-12, 0-1 A-R-C) in a four-set match by scores of 22-25, 18-25, 25-21, and 19-25.
Natalie Crandall and
Ruby Gerhard led the Luther attack with 11 kills. The Norse have now played in eight matches that went to four sets.
The Norse were narrowly out in front of the Vikings in the third set 20-19. Luther went on a 5-2 run to close out the set behind kills from Crandall,
Lindsay Hanson and Gerhard.
Victoria Gomez had a service ace in that run to force a fourth set.
In the fourth set the Vikings out hit the Norse .188 to .143. Augustana improved to 7-7 overall.
Azaria McDonough had 27 assists. Gomez led the defense with 16 digs followed by McDonough (13) and
Jenna Langen (11).
Luther is back on the court on Saturday, Sept. 27 facing Monmouth College at 11 a.m. followed by Aurora University at 1 p.m. in Rock Island, Ill.
