DECORAH, Iowa - Luther College Athletic Director Renae Hartl has announced that Arturo Diaz has been named the interim head coach effective immediately. He is the eighth head coach in program history. Diaz served as the assistant coach for the last three seasons and also coached the junior varsity squad. A new assistant coach will be added later this summer. 
 
"I am pleased and excited for the leadership, continuity, and positive energy Coach Diaz has been bringing to our student-athletes and athletics department over the past two months," Hartl said. "We have elevated things happening for our volleyball program specifically with our new arena and the new volleyball locker room being constructed this summer."
 
"He is absolutely the right person to lead us through the transition months in August and September. We are thankful to our local partners at Decorah Schools and Adam Riley for providing some great spaces for our volleyball program to train and compete before Gerdin Fieldhouse is finished in October."
 
The Norse will open the 2025 season at the College of Saint Benedict Volleyball Tournament Aug. 29 with matches against Crown College and Concordia College (MN) in St. Joseph, Minn.
