CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Luther and Coe split the Sunday afternoon conference series. The Kohawks won the first 3-1 and the Norse took the second 6-2. Luther is 16-10 overall and 2-2 In the American Rivers Conference.
Game 1: Coe 3, Luther 1
The game was held scoreless until the bottom of the sixth where the Kohawks scored three runs. Down to their final chance in the top of the seventh the Norse got a run back off a single from
Madi Urfer. The Coe defense shut down the comeback.
Game 2: Luther 6, Coe 2
Down 1-0,
Mya Larsen's rbi single in the top of the third into center field tied the game. Two innings later, Luther sent 10 batters to the plate scoring four runs on four hits.
Avery Nehring's two rbi single started the scoring rally for the Norse. Coe scored one run in the sixth but
Delaney Martinez-Wilson grabbed a line drive and tagged the base to end the threat on the double play.
Luther added an insurance run in the seventh off of an rbi double from
Jordan Torrez. Larsen was 4-5 at the plate with one run and one rbi.
Alexa Stevermer pitched a complete game allowing seven hits, two runs, one walk and stuck down four.
Coe is now 10-16 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
