DUBUQUE, Iowa - Luther opened the American Rivers Conference season splitting the doubleheader with Loras. Both games were decided by one run. The Duhawks won the first game 3-2 while the Norse took the second 2-1. In the series Luther out hit Loras 12-8. The Norse are 15-9 overall and 1-1 conference play.
Game 1: Loras 3, Luther 2
Loras had a 2-0 advantage heading into the third inning.
Chloe Wagner lead off the inning with a single followed by a single from
Raven Allen. Both were able to score on throwing errors by the Duhawks defense to tie the game. Loras scored the game winning run in the bottom of the fifth.
Alexa Stevermer received the loss allowing three runs on five hits with four strikeouts.
Game 2: Luther 2, Loars 1
The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth when Allen hit an rbi single to put the Norse on the board. The following inning Luther had runners in scoring position after a wild pitch.
Evie Strigel reached on a fielder's choice earning an rbi for a 2-0 lead. In the seventh, the Duhawks cut the lead in half with two outs but the Norse shutdown the comeback one batter later.
Olivia Engler pitched a complete game allowing one run on three hits and is now 9-6 overall.
Loras is now 15-9 overall and 2-2 in the A-R-C.
