Saturday Recap: Luther won game one of today's double header 12-8 and Central won the nightcap 11-6. Luther is now tied for fifth place in the league standings with a mark of 6-9, 10-18 overall.
In game one, the Norse jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two, only to see Central put up four runs in both the third and fourth. Luther tied the game 8-8 thanks to a five-run fourth and posted what proved to be the game winning run in the fifth. They added three more runs in the eighth.
Zach Gwost drove in a the game winner with a single and finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Ike Swanson and
Will Heithoff were both 2-for-4 and scored twice. Swanson was credited with two RBI and Heithoff one.
Ryan Truman was officially 0-for-3 but drove in a team best three RBI.
Brendan Scoonover (1-1) was credited with the win in relief. He tossed 2.1 innings, did not allow a run on five hits and struck out two.

In the nightcap, The Dutch scored in every inning except the second en route to the win. The Norse scored five runs on five hits in the second and posted a run in the eighth.
Garren Heinert led the team with three RBI thanks to a double to center field. Heinert, Josh Matanich,
Ike Swanson and Truman all had two hits.

Game One Recap: Luther and Central squared off for the first game of a three-game series here in the valley this afternoon. The Norse defeated the Dutch 6-3 and moved from the bottom of the league standings to fourth place. Luther is now 5-8 in league play, 9-17 overall. The win was also the fourth in a row for the Norse.
Most of the fireworks took place in the first inning. Central's Garrett Guenther hit a three-run home run in the top of the frame that gave the Dutch an early 3-0 lead. In the bottom half of the inning,
Garren Heinert hit the second pitch he faced fromn the lead off slot and sent it over the left field fence. Three batters later,
Mark Prince hit a three-run home run that carried the trees behind the left-center field fence that gave the Norse a 4-3.
The Norse added two more runs in the seventh en route to the victory.
Kaleb Thiesse (3-1) went the distance on the mound. Thiesse allowed three runs on 11 hits, did not issue a walk and struck out six.Â

The Norse return to action on Tuesday, April 15 when they will host the Duhawks of Loras College for a single game that begins at 3 p.m.
