DECORAH, Iowa - The Luther softball team was swept by Wartburg in an American Rivers Conference doubleheader. The Knights took game one 6-4 and followed with a 5-3 victory in eight innings. Luther is 17-13 overall and 2-4 in the A-R-C.
Game 1: Wartburg 6, Luther 4
The Knights had a 2-0 lead through four frames. The Norse tied the game scoring two runs on two hits. With the bases loaded

Raven Allen tied the game, reaching on a fielder's choice that scored
Madi Urfer.
In the top of the sixth, Wartburg scored four runs on two hits and had their inning extended with a Norse error. Luther followed with two runs on three hits in the bottom half of the frame.
Jerrianne Dannenmueller and Allen drove in the runs with singles to center field and right field respectively.
In the circle,
Olivia Engler allowed six runs on seven hits, walked four and struckout one.
Game 2: Wartburg 5, Luther 3 (8 inn.)
Two errors by the Norse and a hit by the Knights gave Wartburg early scoring two run lead in the top of the first. Luther knotted the score in the bottom of the second. With the bases loaded Allen hit a two-run single to center field.
In the fourth, a
Jordan Torrez infield singled scored pinch runner Kaitlyn Krammbeer that gave the Norse a 3-2 lead. The Knights added a run in the sixth, followed by a scoreless seventh sent the game into the extra frame.
In the top of the eighth, Wartburg took a two-run lead following three hits and a Norse error.
Evie Strigel hit a one-out double that gave the Norse a bit of life in the bottom half of the eighth. The next two batters popped up and struck out that secure the Knights victory.
Alexa Stevermer (7-3) went the distance in the circle allowing five runs on,11 hits. She did not issue a walk and struck out four.
