CLERMONT, Fla. - The Luther softball team ended their spring break trip with a pair of five inning victories over Colby College (11-2) and Lawrence University (10-0). The Norse are 14-8 overall after finishing the week 7-3.
Game 1: Luther 11, Colby 2 (5 inn.)
Jerrianne Dannenmueller had a bases clearing double in the first to put the Norse up 6-0. Colby scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Luther offense stayed hot adding on another four runs the following inning with rbi singles from
Avery Nehring,
Jayla Harter,
Delaney Martinez-Wilson to make it 10-2.Â
Then in the fifth the Norse added an insurance run with
Riley Sauser driving in
Raven Allen.
Olivia Engler pitched a complete game giving up six hits, two runs, three walks and three strikeouts. She is now 8-6 in the circle.Â
Game 2: Luther 10, Lawrence 0 (5 inn.)
This was the second shutout victory for the Norse this season and the first since Feb. 22 when they defeated the University of Minnesota Morris (11-0). Six players for Luther recorded two hits including
Mya Larsen,
Madi Elwood, Nehring, Martinez-Wilson,
Chloe Wagner, and
Jordan Torrez.Â
Alexa Stevermer pitched four innings giving up one hit, one walk and had three strikeouts.
Isabelle Staton came in relief facing just three batters and striking out one.Â

The Norse will open the American Rivers Conference season at Loras on Wednesday, April 2. The doubleheader will begin with first pitch at 2 p.m. in Dubuque, Iowa.Â
