CLERMONT, Fla. - The Luther softball team dropped a pair of one score games as they continue their spring break trip. The Norse fell to Kalamazoo College 8-7 in 11 innings and Willamette University 3-2.
Game 1: Kalamazoo 8, Luther 7 (11 innings)
The first game of the day took over three hours to compete. The Hornets scored in the top of third inning as they held the Norse scoreless until the bottom of the seventh. With the bases loaded
Raven Allen was walked earning her an rbi.
Mya Larsen followed with a two rbi single that went up the middle to tie the game and into extras. The game was played with the international tie-breaker rule which puts a runner on second base.
In the tenth, Kalamazoo scored two runs on two hits. Luther answered in th bottom half of the inning with a two rbi single from
Jayla Harter. One inning later, the Hornets put up three runs. The Norse rallied with two outs scoring two runs but the comeback came up short.
Game 2: Willamette 3, Luther 2
Scoreless after two innings complete, Allen doubled to left filed to put the Norse on the board in the top of the third. Luther added another run in the fifth with a single from Larsen for a 2-0 advantage. The Bearcats took over the lead scoring three runs in the bottom of the inning. Allen was 3-4 at the plate.
Luther is now 10-8 overall.
