Luther and Buena Vista University began the American Rivers Conference schedule in West Liberty, Iowa. This three-game series was scheduled to be played in Storm Lake, Iowa, but that area received nearly 10 inches of snow from a storm that blew through the area on Wednesday night. The two teams met at West Liberty High School.
Game One Recap: BVU 4, Luther 0
BVU pitcher senior Morgan Smith tossed a four-hit shutout as the Beavers defeated the Norse 4-0. The Beavers scored twice in teh third, and once in both the fifth and seventh innings.
Garren Heinert had two hits, while
Mark Prince and
Zach Gwost both had one.

Game Two Recap: BVU 6, Luther 5 (10)
The first of two games on Saturday had most of the fireworks go off in the final three frames of this 10 inning game. Trailing 2-0 entering the to top of the eighth,
Mark Prince gave the Norse a short lived 4-2 lead, after hitting a grand slam home run. The Beavers sent the game into the extra frame scoring once in both the eighth and ninth. In the 10th, Prince hit a two-out solo shot over the right-center field fence that gave the Norse a 5-4 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, BVU scored two runs to secure the come-from-behind victory.
Prince finished the game going 2-for-5 with 5 RBI. Heinert and Josh Matanichb also had multiple hit efforts also going 2-for-5 at the plate.

Game Three Recap: BVU 7, Luther 3
A five-run fifth, fueled by two Luther errors and five BVU hits, proved to be the difference in this game. The Norse scored once in the second and twice in the fifth. Heinert,
Ryan Truman and Prince all drove in a run. Truman produced three of the Norse eight hits.

Luther begins its home A-R-C schedule on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 28-29, when it hots Simpson College. Friday's game will begin at 3 p.m. and Saturday's double header will begin at 1 p.m.
