ROCHESTER, Minn. - The Luther softball team hosted the Rochester Dome games at the RCTC dome and finished the weekend with a 3-1 record. The Norse picked up wins over Hamline University, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The only loss of the weekend came against Macalester College. Luther is now 4-4 overall.
Game 1: Luther 7, Hamline 6 | Box Score
The Pipers out hit the Norse 14-9. Luther had the lead the entire game. The Norse had a 7-4 advantage going into the final inning. Hamline scored two runs off three hits but the Norse defense held on to win the game.
Raven Allen was 4-4 with four runs, one rbi and two doubles.
Game 2: Luther 1, Macalester 4 | Box Score
In the bottom of the fourth, Macalester scored four runs to take a 4-0 lead. The Norse offense would scored a run in the top of the sixth but it wasn't enough to comeback.
Mya Larsen had the lone rbi.
Game 3: Luther 3, UW-Platteville 2 | Box Score
Luther handed UW-Platteville their first loss of the season. In the top of the fifth, singles from
Avery Nehring and Elwood scored the runners to take a 3-0 lead. Both were credited with rbi. The Pioneers responded in the bottom of the sixth with two runs on two hits. In the final frame, UW-Platteville had one runner on first and one out. The Norse defense closed out the game on a double-play to secure the win.
Alexa Stevermer picked up her first career win in the circle pitching a complete game.
Game 4: Luther 3, UW-River Falls 2 | Box Score
UW-River Falls had a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth with the Norse on deck. With runners on first and second
Chloe Wagner hit a two rbi double into center field to tie the game. Then the following inning Allen led off the bottom of the fifth with home run. This was her first of the season. The Falcons threatened in the top of the seventh with runners at first and second. Olivia Enlger closed the game with two back-to-back strikeouts to win the game. Engler pitched a compete game with six strikeouts.
