DECORAH, Iowa - The Luther College men's and women's basketball teams will play their final regular season American Rivers Conference home games against Central College on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 2 and 4 p.m. in the Regents Center Gymnasium. 
 
The historic gym has been a gathering space not just for athletics, but for all of campus and the community over the past six decades. As a part of the renovations into the Gerdin Fieldhouse for Athletics and Wellness, the gym will convert into an arena with seating surrounding the Birkestrand Family Court. Luther athletics marks the moment with a celebration of the space before construction begins in March.
 
Students are encouraged to sit in the sixth man section of the bleachers to create a student section.
 
Each halftime will feature two speakers with Jane Hildebrand '74 and Christina (Gaard) Baumgart '07 for the women's game and Tyler Wedemeier '13 and David Blanchard for the men's game.
 
The two programs will honor their senior class in between the women's and men's game. 
 
Following the conclusion of the men's game there will be a ceremony featuring additional speakers across the years of Luther athletics before the lights are turned off for a final time in the current Regents Gym. The ceremony will be followed by a reception in the south lobby for those in attendance.
 
For those who cannot attend in person, the special speakers and post game ceremonies will be included in the live streams.
