WAVERLY, Iowa - The Luther women's basketball team (1-1) won their first game of the season as they defeated Knox College (0-2) 86-81. Four players recorded double digits including
Abigail Panka,
Haylie Strum,
Lexi Thomas and
Katie Hardtke. Panka led all scorers with 18 points marking a new career high.
With the game tied at 14, a layup from
Sydney Schradle gave Luther the lead with 3:37 left in the first quarter. The Norse maintained the lead for the rest of the game outscoring the Prairie Fire in three out of the four quarters.
Strum recorded her first double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 assists.
Knox was led by Bria Medina with 31 points.
Luther will travel to Crown College on Thursday, Nov. 13. Tip off is at 7 p.m. in St. Bonifacius, Minn.
